In the event of any rise of temperate the Damper will close usually activate by the thermal element which melts at temperatures above ambient but low enough to indicate the presence of a fire. They can also close following a signal from your fire alarm system, depending on installed detectors remote from the Damper.

To comply with building regulations and fire offices but also testing fire dampers can also save lives ensuring they are working and fit for purpose.
How often should fire dampers be tested?

Who should test fire dampers?
Fire dampers should only be tested by a Qualified Technician, someone who is trained and competent in what they are doing. you should always check they have the certifications to prove their competence.

Passive Fire Protection (PFP)
Passive fire protection (PFP) is an integral component of the components of structural fire protection and fire safety in buildings. PFP attempts to contain fires or at the very least slow the spread, such as by fire-resistant walls, floors, and doors. PFP systems must comply with the associated listing and approval use and compliance in order to provide the effectiveness expected by building codes.
That is why we work closely with all parties to create bespoke Passive Plans to create a cost-effective fire stopping solution that will be compliant with all relevant legislation and industry standards.
